2010 Bass Pro Shop Spring Fling

The Fun at Portage

On March 6 & 7, 2010 Anglers Dream Division 9 Volunteers donated their time for volunteer wok @ trout pond for children at Bas Pro Shops in Portage, Ind. from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days.

Approximately 250 children enjoyed fishing in the trout pond for Rainbow Trout.

Our volunteers assisted BPS Staff with the rigging of ice fishing poles with line, bait, hooks and sinkers, and aided in safe removal of hooks from fish for release back into pond tank. Each child was given a few small prizes whether they caught fish or not.

Bass Pro Shop staff from Portage Indiana and Anglers Dream unite to improve the fishery of Hobart Indiana's Lake George.
by: Tim Jones

The combined efforts of the Bass Pro Shop Portage Indiana Staff an Anglers Dream Division 9, Lake George Division, members at the January 23 - 24, 2010 in-store boat show raised the tidy sum of $515 towards the restocking of largemouth bass at Hobart's Lake George. Due to the slow growth of largemouth bass ( 5 years to reach 2 pound range in the wild) the approximately 55 fish of 14" length will greatly enhance the lakes's fishery. At the going rate of $9 per fish the duel organizations time and effort donated towards this goal is much appreciated.

Bass Pro Shop of Portage Provided free hotdog's, cookies, pop and floor space. All the funds donated were collected from civic minded fishermen with an eye to the future. Anglers Dream members provided the personnel to work the food booth and collect donations for the restocking program.

Two more events to look fore ward to at Bass Pro Shop are the reel trade in days and the Spring Classic, February 24th thru March 14th. Donations for restocking of Lake George will be accepted at these events.

Division 9 member of Anglers Dream and Bass Pro Shop of Portage, Indiana are examples of what can be achieved for the benefit of all through teamwork and generosity. If you wish to volunteer your time at these upcoming events please contact Tim Jones, Lake George division 9 director at 219-759-8875.
